Introduction to Home Support Work

Do you have a passion for providing the highest standard of care to those individuals in need of affordable, quality, professional and caring home healthcare services?

RJF Healthcare is holding an Introduction to Home Support Work course for those individuals who share our passion for caring. Students will be taught how to manage an individual’s home needs, including housekeeping, meal preparation, personal care and respite for the family. Certificates for successful completion will be available!

This course is offered with 2 variations:

  1. 3 day training for those individuals who can provide proof of certification for Standard First Aid + CPR
    Level C with AED issued within the last 12 months
  2. 5 day training course for those individuals who do not have this certification


Classes run 9:00am – 5:00pm daily in the RJF Classroom located on M3 of Park Lane Mall.

Day 1 (Mon)

  • Orientation – Working at RJF Healthcare* | 4 hours
  • Orientation – Working as an HSW | 4 hours

Day 2 (Tue)

  • Body Mechanics | 6 hours
  • Meal Preparation | 3 hours

Day 3 (Wed)

  • Personal Care | 6 hours
  • Housekeeping | 3 hours

Day 4 (Mon)

  • CPR/SFA | 8 hours

Day 5 (Tue)

  • CPR/SFA | 8 hours

Blended Learning – Online

  • Occupational Health & Safety
  • WHMIS & Standard Precautions

* Successful completion of the course (requires 100% attendance, full completion of the online modules, and satisfactory understanding and application of the material) may lead to HSW employment with RJF Healthcare.


  • Grade 12 Diploma or successful TABE testing
  • Clear criminal record check issued within the last 12 months
  • 2 work related references
  • Positive attitude and respect for others!
